COMPLi was built because we watched skilled nursing facilities lose citations not from negligence, but from lack of visibility.
Skilled nursing facilities are among the most heavily regulated environments in healthcare. The staff are dedicated. The intentions are good. But the compliance infrastructure: paper binders, disconnected spreadsheets, email chains. It was designed for a world that no longer exists.
"The DON knew something was off on Unit 3. But by the time it showed up in a report, the surveyor had already written the citation."
COMPLi was built to close that gap. To give facilities the same real-time visibility that other industries take for granted, so the good work already happening on the floor gets captured, tracked, and defended when it matters most.
We started with ambassador rounds and environmental audits because that's where citations start at the room level, on the shift, in the moment. From there, we built outward: CAHPS surveys, incident tracking, grievances, QAPI, mock surveys, and an AI layer that synthesizes it all into a plain-English readiness score.
COMPLi exists to make survey-ready compliance the default state of every skilled nursing facility, not a scramble that happens once a year. We believe that when staff have the right tools, good care and good compliance go hand in hand.
A compliance tool that no one uses solves nothing. COMPLi is built for the floor. Fast, mobile-first, and simple enough that a nurse between med passes can complete a round in 12 minutes. If it doesn't get used, nothing else matters.
Monthly reports show you what already happened. COMPLi shows you what's happening now: risks flagged the moment they're logged, scores updated the moment issues are resolved. Compliance should be a continuous state, not a quarterly event.
Complex software creates workarounds. Workarounds create gaps. Gaps create citations. COMPLi is deliberately simple. One platform, clear workflows, no training intensive enough to abandon. Simple is safe.
We're not building a documentation system. We're building a tool that catches call bell deficiencies before they become F-919s, spots at-risk residents before surveyors do, and closes the loop between what staff observe and what leadership knows.
Every piece of COMPLi's infrastructure: BAA-backed GCP, Supabase with row-level security, audit logging, access controls. Built HIPAA-compliant from day one. Not retrofitted. Not checkbox compliance. Built that way.
Every module in COMPLi was shaped by the people using it: DONs, charge nurses, administrators, and regional directors who told us what their mornings actually look like. We don't build features; we solve the problems they describe.
Meadow Wood Care Center in Washington, DC was COMPLi's first deployment. We didn't roll out a finished product. We built it together, iteration by iteration, based on what the staff actually needed on the floor.
What started as a rounds logging tool became an end-to-end compliance operating system because that's where the real problems were. Every module, from grievance tracking to the AI command center, was shaped by what the DON and charge nurses asked for next.
The result is a platform that 80+ staff use daily, a 94% average readiness score, and a survey season they walked into prepared.
We work directly with facility leadership to set up COMPLi and get staff using it within days, not months.
